Jeff Hay - Principal

Jeff Hay

The Tewantin State School is situated at the northern end of the Sunshine Coast approximately 10km upriver from the tourist destination of Noosa.

The school has served the local community for over 125 years.  We have a proud tradition of community involvement and academic achievement.

Our unofficial motto is "Inspiring our community of learners ....." and over the years, a great deal of effort has gone into promoting the dignity and potential of each child in the school.

Our teaching and non-teaching staffs are very experienced and dedicated and have developed a strong loyalty to this school and its children.

We are committed to the belief that all children are entitled to enjoy growing and learning as they pass from Pre School to Year Seven and beyond.  We're serious about learning and we're also serious about enjoying ourselves in the process.

Kerrod Parsons - Deputy Principal

Kerrod Parsons

I am privileged to be a member of an experienced administration and teaching staff at one of Education Queensland’s leading schools.

My experience in administration roles commenced in 1982 and I have held a deputy principal position since 1995. My experience, enthusiasm and willingness to provide children with the best possible educational outcomes combine with

the supportive school community to ensure a productive learning environment for all Tewantin Students.

The welcoming environment allows for strong partnerships with parents in providing the best possible education for your children

I look forward to meeting with you.

Jeff Moore - Deputy Principal

Jeff Moore

I began my teaching career in Victoria, before like many others I saw the light and moved to Queensland.

With Education Queensland I established the Education Unit at the once infamous Sir Leslie Wilson Youth Detention Centre and was Principal of Richmond State School a P-10 school in the North West of the State.

In 1996 my family and I moved to Tewantin. During this time my five children all attended Tewantin State School, an absolute thrill for me but I’m not sure my children shared my excitement at having their father involved in all their school adventures.

Over the years I have had several opportunities to be the Acting Principal of Tewantin State School and for a term to fill the role of Principal at the Kenilworth Community College.

Tewantin is my home and I hold a deep affection for this school and its wonderful community.

As a Deputy Principal at Tewantin State School I oversee the years 4, 5 and 6 classes. As the Workplace Health and Safety Officer for our school I have a responsibility in ensuring that Tewantin State School is a safe place to learn, work and play.

Each year I have the pleasure of administering the awarding of the Weaver Bursary to a year 7 student. This unique award helps the successful recipient with significant financial assistance for the remainder of their secondary education. It is also a thrill  to organise our year 7 Graduation Ceremony which provides a wonderful send off for our graduates and allows us to honour our students and their achievements at Tewantin State School.

As part of the Administration team I look forward to working with you, the staff and children of our school to ensure that Tewantin State School provides an excellent educational and social experience.

Ian Stoker - Business Services Manager

Ian Stoker

As the Business Services Manager I am responsible for the day to day running of the Administration Office of the school including student enrolments, school budgeting and support personnel.

The office team currently administers over 750 full-time student enrolments, from Prep to Year 7.  A number of the students also attend our on-site Special Education Program.

The school budget approaches $500,000 annually from sources including the Queensland Government, the school Parents and Citizens' Association and collections for a range of activities such as excursions, camps and art and cooking.

The school employs a variety of support personnel.  Two Administrative Officers are employed in the school office.  A number of permanent and casual teacher aides are employed in areas ranging from specialist support programs (eg support-a-reader) to classroom programs and Pre School, Special Education Unit and Library.  Other support staff at the school include a janitor groundsman and 5 cleaners.

Trish Gray - Head of Curriculum

Trish Gray

As the Head of Curriculum my areas of responsibility are predominantly based around what we learn (curriculum) and how we can best learn it (professional development for teachers to ensure best practice.)

I am responsible for implementing Education Queensland policies, including new syllabus documents and initiatives.  I provide professional development for teachers, teacher aides and student teachers on a regular basis.

I am responsible for managing the resources for Maths, English, Science, SOSE, The Arts, and Technology.  Ensuring that our school is meeting its targets for adequate student computers is another of my responsibilities.

My role as this school’s Learning Manager for the students of the Central Queensland University’s Bachelor of Learning Management program ensures that the students are able to apply in practical settings the theory they are bringing to our school from university.

I am also a lecturer at the Noosa hub for Central Queensland University where I co-ordinate the mathematics programs for pre-service teachers.
