Microsoft® Word document files
(.doc)
Microsoft® Word document
files can be used for downloading information from the Internet. They can
be opened by saving the file locally on the computer and opening it using
Microsoft® Word. Microsoft® Word documents may contain a combination of
text, formatting and graphics.
If you do not have
Microsoft® Word installed on your computer you can download a viewer
which allows you to print and view Microsoft® Word files from the Microsoft®
Word Viewer download page.
PDF document files (.pdf)
A document may be
formatted as an Adobe Acrobat© PDF (Portable Document Format) file to
retain the original formatting of the hard copy version. PDF files provide
graphic capabilities that have so far not been available in conventional
Web browsers.
Whilst PDF files are
generally larger than plain text files, the quality of reproduction is
higher, especially in print.
A special reader, Acrobat
Reader software for Windows(TM), Macintosh(TM), MS-DOS(TM), SGI(TM), and
Sun(TM) is required and is available free from Adobe.
